An Operation & Maintenance Manual is a document that provides details about the solution being provided. The manual provides the service organization that takes responsibility for the solution after implementation, detailed guidance on how the solution should be operated and maintained, and how the product's application life cycle is supported to minimize unplanned shutdowns, keep maintenance costs low, etc. The guidance must be prepared while building and validating the solution. The document must provide an overview of the solution and contain updated documentation from the Solution Design, so that it is easy to correct any bugs, service failure and system errors that might occur. Topics such as reporting procedures and service levels should not be described in the manual but should be addressed in a separate Service Level Agreement (SLA) defined by the Managed Service or the customer.
